Renewable methanol
Certified renewable methanol, made in Britain and the Netherlands, available from 2028
We build our own renewable generation and produce e-methanol on the same site. We are talking now to shipping, ports and heavy industry who want volume under contract before the obligations tighten.
What we are building
Generation and fuel production on the same site
energytofuel builds its own renewable generation, onshore and offshore wind, solar and hydro, and sites modular methanol synthesis units directly behind it. The electricity never touches the public network, so there is no grid import, no fossil electricity in the fuel and no connection queue to wait in. Carbon is captured from the air on site.
Modular, not monolithic
Each plant is built from repeated modular units rather than one large bespoke facility. We add capacity as sites come online, so delivery dates follow build time rather than a single commissioning event.
Delivery
Production starts in 2027 and contracted volumes are available from 2028, rising each year. We site plants to supply the customers who have contracted the output.
Green credentials
Renewable by construction, not by certificate
- Zero emission electricity by design. Each plant draws from its own generation over a direct connection and imports nothing from the grid. It meets the additionality and hourly correlation tests for RFNBO status through the build itself, not through bought certificates.
- Carbon taken from the air. We capture the carbon from the atmosphere rather than from a fossil source, so burning the fuel returns only what was removed.
- Well past the threshold. An RFNBO must save at least 70% of greenhouse gas against the fossil comparator. Our electricity counts as zero emission and the carbon comes from the air, so only construction and distribution remain to account for.
- Compliance value where you need it. UK supply is certified under the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation. Dutch supply carries its compliance value in the price.
- A supply chain you can audit. Made in the UK and the Netherlands and delivered to where it is burned. The fuel crosses no ocean to reach you, and you can visit the plant that made it.
